Appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2008, Mr. Allen is a highly experienced leader and, as a former NASA Astronaut and Marine Corps pilot, knows first-hand the critical importance of fire suppression and protection equipment.
Mr. Allen previously held executive assignments with Honeywell, serving as Vice President of Space Programs, Vice President of International Military Aircraft, and Vice President of Space Systems Sales and Marketing. Previous to Honeywell, Mr. Allen worked for United Space Alliance, the prime contractor for NASA’s Space Shuttle Operations and Maintenance, where he served as Program Manager for Ground Operations, and previous to that as Program Manager for Space Shuttle Upgrades. Mr. Allen is a retired NASA Astronaut and Marine Corps pilot (LtCol, USMC, ret). He is a three time space flight veteran and Space Shuttle Commander, with over 900 hours in space. Allen has over 6,000 hours in more than 30 different aircraft, and is a recipient of a number of honors, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, and NASA Exceptional Service Medal.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and honorary doctorates in Public Service, Engineering Science, and Aerospace Management.
